The inspiration

Inspired by mid-20th-century Italian design, the Milano Game Table draws on the geometric forms and sculptural proportions that distinguished furniture from this period.

Its circular top features intricate marquetry in ebony and chechen veneers, arranged in a radial composition. The direction of the grain and the natural contrast between the two woods create a geometric pattern that subtly changes with the light.

The top rests on a sculptural base that introduces movement and contrasts with the precision of the geometric design above.

The Milano Game Table combines the tradition of fine marquetry with a contemporary interpretation of Italian design, distinguished by the richness of its woods and the originality of its proportions.

How it is made

The making of the Milano Game Table combines the precision of traditional cabinetmaking with intricate marquetry. Its circular top features a radial composition of ebony and chechen veneers, whose arrangement calls for careful wood selection.

Our specialists study the tones, grain patterns, and natural contrasts of each veneer. Every section is individually prepared and fitted so that the lines converge accurately and the design remains balanced across the tabletop.

The challenge lies in the precision of each meeting point: even a slight variation in a cut or grain direction can interrupt the pattern. The sculptural base also requires careful execution to preserve the intended proportions and provide stability.

Once the cabinetmaking and marquetry are complete, the surfaces are carefully prepared and finished to bring out the depth of the wood tones and their natural contrast. The Milano demonstrates how a traditional skill, acquired through years of practice, can take on a contemporary expression through geometric design.
